What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the world’s most popular alternative to traditional metal braces. It uses a series of clear plastic aligner trays to gently reposition your teeth.

What kinds of issues can Invisalign correct?

Most people choose Invisalign for the aesthetic benefits. Your trays are made of a crystal clear material that resists staining or clouding. They are virtually undetectable, even when you are face-to-face in work or social settings. 

Invisalign also simplifies your dental hygiene routines. The brackets and wires used in traditional braces create hundreds of nooks and crannies where plaque, food particles, and bacteria can hide. With Invisalign, you simply pop out and rinse your aligners, brush and floss your teeth, then place your aligners back into position. 

What happens during Invisalign treatment?

Once you and Dr. Beckford determine that Invisalign is the right path for you, the information gathered during your exam and digital scanning is sent to a lab. Technicians use those specifications to craft your initial series of aligners. 

Once your aligners arrive, you’ll begin wearing them around the clock, removing them only to eat, drink, and perform your dental hygiene routines. The aligners fit snugly over the surface of your teeth, much like a mouth guard or retainer, only with a custom fit. 

The aligners place gentle pressure on your teeth, moving them incrementally closer to your ideal smile. After a few weeks, you’ll change to the next set of trays, and you return to visit Dr. Beckford periodically to check on your treatment progress and make adjustments as needed.
